SPEAKER BIO


Chuck Hollis, Vice President, Global Marketing CTO, EMC Corporation

A 17-year EMC veteran, Chuck is a key member of EMC's management team, working on strategic aspects of marketing, business development and technology. He is a popular industry blogger (http://chucksblog.emc.com) and also is leading EMC's social media proficiency initiative.

Previously, Chuck ran EMC's Technology Alliances organization, building strong partnerships that deliver customers superior multi-vendor solutions. Prior to that, he was VP of Strategic Marketing, where he helped map out key aspects of EMC's transformation strategy, messaging and field execution.

Chuck has also been EMC's VP of Storage Platforms Marketing, responsible for EMC's overall platform product strategy and offerings across all major market segments. Chuck has also had significant field roles, including Director of Sales Operations, leading the Professional Services and Systems Engineering organizations for EMC in Europe.
Chuck originally came to EMC as part of an initial team to help EMC enter the open systems market. Since then, he has been at the forefront of many of EMC's go-to-market initiatives, including specific application markets (ERP, NT and DW) as well as storage-based initiatives (Enterprise Storage, storage software and Enterprise Storage Networks).

Prior to EMC, Chuck worked at several UNIX and database companies in Silicon Valley. Chuck has received degrees in Computer Science and Economics from University of California at Santa Cruz.

Clive Gold, CTO Marketing, EMC Australia and New Zealand

Clive has nearly 30 years' experience in the IT industry and joined EMC in 1999. He is currently the Marketing Chief Technology Officer for this region and is responsible for communicating EMC's technology vision, strategy and direction. Clive is currently the Chairman of the Storage Networking Industry Association's International Steering Committee as well as Vice Chairman of the local chapter, SNIA-ANZ.

Having commenced his career with Hewlett-Packard, Clive subsequently held a variety of senior positions in sales, marketing and services, with companies including HP, Dimension Data and Pyramid Technology.

Clive holds Masters Degree in Business Administration as well as a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

Allan King, Director, Managing Director, Infront Systems

Allan King is Managing Director of Infront Systems, a leading systems integrator specialising in data centre solutions.  Allan started Infront in October 1998. Since then, Allan’s leadership and passion have become hallmarks of his tenure at the company.

During the past 14 years, Allan has driven the strategic direction of the company that saw early success in the emerging markets of storage, virtualisation and enterprise archive. Today Infront employees 30 staff with an annual turnover of 30 million dollars.

Together with the company’s other business and technical leaders, Allan is focused on continuing Infront’s innovation and leadership in the areas of unified computing, systems integration and IT support. 

Andy Solterbeck, Director, Director Managed Services Industry Solutions, Telstra Innovation, Products & Marketing

Andy is responsible for leading the Product Team for Managed Services and Industry Solutions within Telstra. With over 20 years’ experience in the industry; he is a globally recognised expert in security and systems management and is a respected member of several high profile government and industry advisory boards including the Critical Infrastructure Advisory Board to the Attorney General.

Andy has held a range of high level management positions in the security industry, including his most recent role as Regional Director for RSA in ANZ. Prior to RSA, he was based in the US and was VP and CTO of the Enterprise Business Units of SafeNet, a security solutions company specialising in encryption technologies.

He has also served as General Manager for Senetas, a group of companies specialising in the delivery of Information Technology services to the finance and government sectors, as well as being the first Tivoli Architect at IBM to be certified in the APJ region.

Dean Jackson, Technical Consultant, EMC Australia and New Zealand

Dean is a Technical Consultant with EMC where he has been for over 8 years. In his role, Dean is responsible for designing complex EMC storage and application solutions, across different markets and is recognised as a leading technical consultant within the Australia and New Zealand.

Dean started with EMC in Canada where, for four years, he was a solutions architect. He was responsible for supporting complex data migrations as well as designing and laying out large arrays. In this role he was also responsible for the overall architecture and the application solution design.

Since joining EMC in ANZ, Dean has taken on responsibility for supporting high end storage platforms and the EMC application solutions for Oracle, SQL, Exchange and SAP.

Dean holds a number of industry certifications, such as a “Certificate in ITSM”, “EMC Proven Master Architect” and “Cisco Certified Design Associate”. Dean also has extensive experience as a systems administrator on both HPUX and Solaris.

Eddie Schwartz, Chief Information Security Officer, RSA, The Security Division of EMC

Mr. Schwartz is Chief Information Security Officer for RSA and has 25 years experience in the information security field. Previously, he was CSO of NetWitness (acquired by EMC), CTO of ManTech, EVP and General Manager of Global Integrity (acquired by INS), SVP of Operations of Guardent (acquired by VeriSign), CISO of Nationwide Insurance, a Senior Computer Scientist at CSC, and a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Dept. of State.

Mr. Schwartz has advised a number of early stage security companies, and served on the Executive Committee for the Banking Information Technology Secretariat (BITS). Mr. Schwartz has a B.I.S. in Information Security Management and an M.S. in Information Technology Management from the George Mason University School of Management.

Glen Hyat, Advisory Technology Consultant, EMC Australia and New Zealand

Glen is an advisory technology consultant for EMC Australia and New Zealand with over 21 years IT experience. Since joining EMC in 2001, Glen has worked extensively with many of Australia's largest organisations, designing their enterprise storage, connectivity and disaster recovery environments.

Glen holds the “expert” level of EMC Proven Professional certification for Symmetrix and Business Continuity and is also a Cisco Certified Specialist in Data Center Network Infrastructure Design.

Glen held Unix consulting positions with Hewlett Packard, IBM Global Services and worked as a Unix administrator in the finance and telecommunications industries.

Dr Jerry Vochteloo, Senior Technical Consultant EMC Australia

Jerry has had a very diverse and broad career in IT: working in research, education, services and sales
Currently Jerry works for EMC helping customers address Backup and Recovery problems in their environments. Jerry has more than 10 years experience in Backup and Recovery space with large tier one customers.

Jerry is a regular speaker and has presented at events like VForum, Storage and Networking World and numerous other trade and vendor conferences.

Prior to his current role, Jerry worked for VERITAS and later Symantec in various roles and before that was a lecturer at both University of New South Wales and the University of Technology, Sydney. While working at the UNSW, Jerry completed his PhD in Computer Science, for which he conducted in depth research into MicroKernel Security.

Jim Carter, Product Marketing Manager – Hosting and Cloud, Macquarie Telecom

Jim is responsible for working with Macquarie Telecom’s hosting product team to position all new and existing hosting solutions for midmarket business customers. He also analyses market trends and competitive strategies to influence product design and ensure new products align with our customers unique needs.

With more than 20 years’ experience in the information technology industry, Jim has previously held senior positions with Microsoft, NEC and Sun Microsystems prior to joining Macquarie Telecom in 2010.

Jim earned a Bachelor of Mathematics and Computer science in Canada, prior to Graduating from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management where he earned a Masters of Business Administration Degree.

Les Williamson, Vice President, Cisco Asia Pacific Area

Les Williamson is the leader of the Cisco Asia Pacific area that includes southeast Asia (Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam) and Australia and New Zealand. Williamson’s responsibility is to drive profitable growth and market leadership through the innovative use of technologies for a more collaborative and productive business and social environment in this recently created Asia Pacific area.
Williamson previously led Cisco Australia and New Zealand where he was responsible for helping customers and partners take advantage of business and social transitions to increase productivity, create competitive advantage through new, sustainable business models and lower the impact of business on the environment.

Williamson is well known for his innovative approach to business issues. In 2007, he evolved Cisco’s go-to-market approach by transforming and aligning the company’s capabilities, resources and ecosystem to drive maximised customer relevance and mutual growth with partners. This team effort resulted in the Cisco Australia and New Zealand business growing at greater than double that of market rates whilst reducing costs dramatically, by mainly using IT as an enabler for productivity and innovation.

In addition, Williamson leads the company’s corporate social responsibility initiative in Australia, which has the single objective of putting the human network at the heart of indigenous education and community development in Cape York in North Queensland.
